Christmas Time In Europe

It’s Christmas time in Europe
But here we are hiding
In a foreign land
Far from the fireside.
Across this cityscape
Cry the calls to prayer
And I dream of the steeples and bells.

Minarets and crescent moons
We’re another world away
A world where darkness falls
Before the children come to play.
Steeple bells and christmas choirs
Are but fond memories
As minarets and crescent moons
Look out across this sea.

Sweet scented- she sweeps past me-
Buried in black; Painted eyes daring
No name, no comment,
Another ghost in the mall,
Another sail in a crowded sea
And I watch until she melts away into the throng.

Minarets and crescent moons
We’re another world away
A world where darkness falls
Before the children come to play.
Steeple bells and christmas choirs
Are but fond memories
As minarets and crescent moons
Look out across this sea.

Across this cityscape
Cry the calls to prayer
And I dream of the steeples and bells.

About Maitiu

I am a collection of aspects. A father, a husband, an uncle, a son, a teacher, an aspiring writer, an amateur photographer, a poor guitar player, a slightly better singer... Online however I am a 365er looking to find out what people make of my personal poetic musings and my photographs. Drop a penny in an old man's hat and let me know what you think...
