“I believe in You”

It has been a while since I posted any poetry. This is something I wrote a few weeks ago and I have been playing with ever since. I guess sometimes you just have to say ‘enough’ and post otherwise it might get lost. Please do feel free to comment.

“I believe in You”

A broken man, pinned against a bar-

His friends all carry on

As if he were not there.

Too ashamed to see his tears

Scared it might expose their own

Deep-rooted hidden fears

And so he sits alone

A fallen stranger by the wayside

Staring at his empty glass

Looking for the friendly hand

In a cold, cold sea

Of his own despair.

The voice, oh so quiet, whispers

All but drowned out by the juke box:

“Take my hand

And I will see you through.

You don’t know me

But I believe in you.”

About Maitiu

I am a collection of aspects. A father, a husband, an uncle, a son, a teacher, an aspiring writer, an amateur photographer, a poor guitar player, a slightly better singer... Online however I am a 365er looking to find out what people make of my personal poetic musings and my photographs. Drop a penny in an old man's hat and let me know what you think...
