This image I took in the Philippines called to mind a poem I wrote just under a year ago…

A Stranger

It might take a stranger

To show you who you are.

Till then you have to carry on

And hope you don’t get too far

Down the wrong way,

Down the wrong road.

He had a familiar face

The kind you thought you know

But you just couldn’t place him

You smiled and said “hello”.

But when he turned to speak with you

You hurried past; you walked on by.

You saw him watching after you

Caught a look of knowing in his eye.

But the memory still lingers

An image burned in black and white.

You wonder what he might have said

To halt your souless flight

Down the wrong way,

Down the wrong road.

About Maitiu

I am a collection of aspects. A father, a husband, an uncle, a son, a teacher, an aspiring writer, an amateur photographer, a poor guitar player, a slightly better singer... Online however I am a 365er looking to find out what people make of my personal poetic musings and my photographs. Drop a penny in an old man's hat and let me know what you think...
